
Online
applications are hereby invited from the candidates who are a permanent resident
of Assam to appear in the Pre Entry Test (PET)-2020 for admission into 2-Year
Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.) Course. The course will be conducted
in the NCTE recognized Teacher Education Institutes (DIET/CTE/Normal
School/BTC/Pvt.TEIs) of the state for the academic session 2020-2022 beginning
from 1st July 2020.
Eligibility Criteria:
Qualification: The applicant
must have passed Higher Secondary (+2) or its equivalent examination from
recognized Boards/Councils with at least 50% marks in aggregate excluding marks
secured in extra optional.
[For candidates belonging
to SC/STP/STH category there will be a relaxation of 5% of marks in aggregate]
Age: The applicant must not be less than
18 years and not more than 34 years as on 1st July 2020. There will
be relaxation by 2 years for candidates belonging to SC, STP & STH
categories.
Reservation: Reservation of
seats for the candidates belonging to reserved categories including
OBC/MOBC/SC/STP/STH/Person with Disability (PWD) will be as per existing Govt.

Application Fee: Rs.400/- (Rupees

Admit Cards:
Candidates will be able to download his/her Admit Card from the website, http://www.scertassam.co.in from 22nd
April 2020 by entering his/her Application Number and Date of Birth generated
during the online submission of the application.
Venue for Pre Entry Test (PET): The venue for
the Pre Entry Test (PET) will be DIET of a District. However, depending upon the
number of candidates the Pre Entry Test may be held in nearby
TEI/School/College etc. The venue for the Pre Entry Test will be indicated in
the Admit Card of the candidates.

This is for information that the youths of the
state who are permanent residents of Assam and aspiring to take up teaching at
elementary level as a profession may apply to appear in the Pre Entry Test
(PET)-2020 for admission into 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education course for
the academic session 2020-2022 beginning from 1st July 2020 in the NCTE recognized
Teacher Education Institutes of the state.
It is to be noted that the acquiring of this
diploma by a person will not automatically enable him/her to claim recruitment
in elementary schools. Under the RTE Act 2009, possession of professional
qualifications such as D.El.Ed. etc. of a teacher is mandatory for any appointment
as a teacher at the elementary stage in all government/provincialized/ private schools
in Assam according to NCTE norms.
Applications are, therefore, invited from the
intending candidates having the aptitude to serve with dedication as teachers in
Elementary Schools for admission into the 2-year Diploma in Elementary
Education course to be started on 1st July 2020. Admission will be open for
each Teacher Education Institute, (DIET, CTE, Normal school, BTC and Private
TEI). There will be a reservation of 30% seats for candidates having a science
stream and 70% seats for other streams.
District wise merit list will be prepared and
allotment will be made in Teacher Education Institutes in the districts as per
merit, and availability of seats. A waiting list will also be prepared.

seats:
There will be reservation of seats for SC, ST(P), ST(H), OBC/ MOBC, Persons
with disability (PWD) as per the norms of the Govt. of Assam.

1. Preference of
TEI (Teacher Education Institute) to study:
A) Candidates of the districts where there is
no DIET/CTE/Normal School/BTC/Private TEI will be placed in their nearest the district provided they will be qualified and they will not prefer other districts.
That is candidates of Chirang, Baska, Udalguri, Biswanath, West Karbi-Anglong, South
Salmara, Kamrup(M), Charaideu, and Hojai Districts will be placed in TEIs of Bongaigaon, Nalbari,
Darrang, Sonitpur, Karbi-Anglong East, Dhubri, Kamrup, Sivasagar, and Nagaon
Districts respectively.
B) Districts having no. Govt. TEIs
(DIET/CTE/Normal School/BTC) will not be considered as separate districts. For
example in Hojai District, there is no DIET/CTE/Normal School/BTC. There is only
one Private TEI recognized by NCTE. So candidates of Hojai will be included in
Nagaon district unless they opt for other districts.
C) After the declaration of merit list, there will
be online counseling where candidates will give their preferences of TEI where
he/she intends to study. However, candidates will be placed in their preferred
TEI is only subject to their position in the merit list.
D) Candidates giving preference to a Teacher
Training Institute (TEI) i.e. DIET/ CTE/Normal School/BTC/Private TEI of the district will be placed in that particular district provided he/she is
qualified. Thereafter request to transfer to other districts will not be
entertained.
E) TEIs of Kokrajhar District are for
candidates of both the Bodo and Assamese medium. However candidates of the Bodo medium
may apply to TEIs of other districts also if they want but after admission, no
transfer application will be entertained.
2. Filling up of
OMR Sheet :
There will four Question Booklets
(A/B/C/D).Each candidate will have to answer only one Question Booklet.
Candidates should note that OMR Answer Sheet shall be used for indicating the answers.
The evaluation of the OMR sheet will be done with the help of a computer. No manual
evaluation of the OMR sheet shall be done. The performance of the candidates shall
be evaluated both on the basis of correct and incorrect responses recorded on
the OMR sheet. For every incorrect response, a 0.25 mark shall be deducted from
the marks secured by the candidate for correct responses. There would be
negative marking for a wrong response as well as for more than one response
given to a single question. While appearing in the examination candidates should
follow the instructions given in the Question Booklet & OMR sheet and
carefully fill up the relevant particulars like Roll No., Question Booklet set
(A/B/C/D) etc. Use only Black or Blue Ballpen while filling up the OMR sheet.

Disability (PWD)
Candidates applying for seats under PWD quota
will have to produce identity card and identified a certificate from the State
Level Medical Board/District Level Medical Board for verification at the time
of admission in concerned TEI.
The following categories of Person with
Disability (PWD) will be considered for admission.
