AFCAT Syllabus, Exam Centre, Selection Procedure

The subjects, the time allowed and the maximum marks allotted to each subject will be as follows:-

Exam: AFCAT
Subject: General Awareness, Verbal Ability in English, Numerical Ability and Reasoning and Military Aptitude Test.
Duration: 02 Hours
No. of Questions: 100
Max Marks: 300

Exam: EKT [For Candidates with one of the choices as (Technical) Branch]
Subject: Mechanical, Computer Science and Electrical & Electronics.
Duration: 45 minutes
No. of Questions: 50
Max Marks: 150

Standard and Syllabus of the Examination:

(aa) English. Comprehension, Error Detection, Sentence Completion/Filling in of correct word, Synonyms, Antonyms and Testing of Vocabulary, Idioms and Phrases.

(ab) General Awareness. History, Geography, Civics, Politics, Current Affairs, Environment, Basic Science, Defence, Art, Culture, Sports, etc.

(ac) Numerical Ability. Decimal Fraction, Time and Work, Average, Profit & Loss, Percentage, Ratio & Proportion and Simple Interest, Time & Distance (Trains/Boats & Streams).

(ad) Reasoning and Military Aptitude Test. Verbal Skills and Spatial Ability.

AFCAT Selection Process: Indian Air Force (IAF) recruits Commissioned Officers in Flying, Ground Duty (Technical) and Ground Duty (Non Technical) Branches through Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT)-01/2021. Here is the selection process of AFCAT:

Selection Process: Candidates applied for AFCAT will have to go through the following selection Process:

For Ground Duty (Technical) Branch: Candidates will be called for Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) and Engineering Knowledge Test (EKT). The AFCAT will be of two hours duration and will contain multiple choice questions on verbal ability, numerical ability, reasoning, general awareness and military aptitude. Selected candidates will have to undergo further testing of two stages.

Stage-I: consists of Intelligence Test along with other tests, document check.
Stage-II: consists of Psychological test, Group Tests and Interview.

For Flying Branch: Candidates have to go through Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT). The AFCAT will be of two hours duration and will contain multiple choice questions on verbal ability, numerical ability, reasoning, general awareness and military aptitude. Intelligence Test, Psychological test along with other tests, document check, Group Tests interview & CPSS (Computerised Pilot Selection System) and or PABT would be administered to eligible candidates.

For Ground Duty (Non Technical) Branch: Candidates have to go through Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT). The AFCAT will be of two hours duration and will contain multiple choice questions on verbal ability, numerical ability, reasoning, general awareness and military aptitude.
