Eligibility Details
1. Research Scientist
- Qualification: First Class M.Sc./M.Tech/M.E. in the relevant field.
- Experience: Generally, 1 year of relevant research/work experience.
- Fields: Geology, Geophysics, Earth Science, Disaster Management, Geography, Geoinformatics, Computer Science, Physics, Meteorology and related subjects.
- Age Limit: Up to 28 years for M.Sc. candidates and 30 years for M.Tech candidates.
2. Junior Research Fellow (JRF)
- Qualification: First Class M.Sc./M.Tech/B.E./B.Tech in the relevant discipline.
- NET/GATE: A valid qualifying NET/GATE or other prescribed national-level test score is required.
- Fields: Forestry, Environmental Science, Life Science, Botany, Physics, Earth Science, Remote Sensing & GIS, Computer Science and related fields.
- Age Limit: Maximum 28 years.
3. Project Associate-I
- Qualification: First Class M.Sc. in Botany, Forestry or Environmental Science.
- Experience: At least 1 year of experience in plant identification; Plant Taxonomy specialization is preferred.
- Age Limit: Maximum 35 years.
Minimum Qualification
- M.E./M.Tech: Minimum 60% marks or equivalent CGPA/CPI as prescribed.
- B.E./B.Tech/M.Sc: Minimum 65% marks or equivalent CGPA/CPI as prescribed.
- JRF Candidates: A valid CSIR-UGC NET, GATE, JAM, JEST/JGEEBILS, AICE or other accepted national-level qualification is required, depending on the post.
Age Limit & Relaxation
- Research Scientist: Up to 28 years for M.Sc.-based posts and 30 years for M.Tech-based posts.
- JRF: Maximum 28 years.
- Project Associate-I: Maximum 35 years.
- SC/ST Candidates: Age relaxation as per Government of India rules.
- OBC Candidates: Age relaxation as per applicable Government rules.
- PwBD/Ex-Servicemen: Relaxation will be applicable as per Government of India guidelines.
Tenure of Engagement
- Research Scientist: Initially for 1 year and may be extended up to 3 years, subject to project requirements and performance.
- JRF & Project Associate-I: Initially for 1 year and may be extended further, subject to project duration and satisfactory performance.
- Nature of Job: These are purely temporary project positions and do not provide any claim for regular appointment in NESAC.
Selection Process
Candidates will be selected based on their performance in the Walk-in-Interview. Applicants may answer the interview in either English or Hindi. No TA/DA will be provided for attending the interview.

- Prescribed and neatly typed NESAC biodata/application format.
- Original educational certificates and marksheets.
- NET/GATE/JAM or other required test certificate/scorecard for JRF posts.
- Experience certificate, wherever applicable.
- One set of self-attested photocopies of all relevant documents.
- Caste/category certificate, if applicable.
- Valid Government-issued photo ID proof.
- NOC from the present employer for candidates working in Government/PSU organizations.
