Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has published the latest recruitment notification for the Grade “C” Stenographers Limited Departmental Competitive Examination (LDCE) 2025 to fill 326 vacancies across various services and cadres. Eligibility Criteria: Please check page no. 8 of the SSC Steno LDC notification.
Scheme of Examination for SSC Grade-C
i. General Awareness: Question will be aimed at testing the candidate’s General Awareness of the environment around him and its application to society. Questions will also be designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matters of every day observations and experience in their scientific aspect as may be expected of any educated person. The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighboring countries especially pertaining to History, Culture, Geography, Economics, Science, General Polity and Scientific research.
Total: 100 Question (100 Marks)
ii. Comprehension and Knowledge of English Language: Questions will be designed to test the candidate’s understanding and knowledge of English language, Vocabulary, spelling, grammar, sentence structure, synonyms, antonyms, sentence completion, phrases and idiomatic use of words etc. There will be question on comprehension of a passage also.
Total: 100 Question (100 Marks)
iii. Time Allowed: 2 Hours (2 hours and 40 minutes).
iv. Short Hand Skill Test in Hindi Or in English (200 Marks).
Mode of Selection for Stenographer
Computer Based Exam (CBE): Only candidates scoring the minimum qualifying marks fixed by SSC will be called for the Stenography Skill Test.
Skill Test Qualification: SSC will set category-wise qualifying standards for the Skill Test.
Final Selection Basis: Final selection will be based on merit in the Computer Based Exam + Skill Test + APAR evaluation.
Merit List & Allotment: SSC will prepare separate merit lists for each participating Service/Cadre and recommend candidates as per vacancies.
Relaxation for Reserved Categories: SC/ST/PwBD candidates may be recommended under relaxed standards against reserved vacancies, subject to fitness.
No Double Benefit: SC/ST/PwBD candidates selected on general merit will not be adjusted against reserved vacancies.
Vacancy-Based Selection: Selection to Grade “C” posts will be strictly as per available vacancies, reservation rules, and DoPT guidelines.
Competitive Exam: This is a competitive exam, not qualifying. Selection numbers are decided by the Government.
No Automatic Right to Selection: Qualifying or passing the exam does not guarantee selection.
Final Approval by Cadre Authority: Final appointment depends on service record, conduct, and suitability as assessed by the cadre authority.
