Eligibility: Candidates should have reasonable (minimum 15) years of technical, managerial, or professional experience. They should have at least a bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, design, medicine, or a master's degree in sciences, humanities, management, education, law, or related fields. A Ph.D. is desirable but not essential. Depending on the years of experience, the person may be offered the position of Professor, Associate Professor, or Assistant Professor of Practice. Retired personnel from industry and R&D organizations will also be considered. Professor of Practice posts are not open for those who are in the teaching profession.
Honorarium: A consolidated amount was mutually agreed upon between the institute and the expert.

NITM Shillong: Selection Process
All positions shall be appointed by the director based on the recommendations of the duly constituted screening and selection committee. All are short-term contract positions only, initially for a period of one (1) year, extendable for a total of three (3) years, or up to the age of 70, whichever is earlier. The extension shall be based on performance and on the recommendation of the committee. Reputed scientists, engineers, physicians, civil servants, technocrats, financial experts, entrepreneurs, architects, managers, experts in media, literature, fine arts, the legal profession, public administration, the armed forces, designers, and other professionals can be considered for the above faculty positions based on the eligibility criteria mentioned above. The director has the right to consider applications from exceptionally good candidates who do not meet the above-mentioned criteria. Persons appointed as Professor of Practice will have no right or claim for regular appointment or continuation of the post at NIT Meghalaya other than the terms specified above. The director has the right to terminate the positions at any stage, under extreme circumstances.
