- Paper I (Classes I to V): Candidates must fulfill the minimum qualifications prescribed for Primary Teachers by NCTE.
- Paper II (Classes VI to VIII): Candidates must fulfill the minimum qualifications prescribed for Elementary Stage Teachers by NCTE.
- Relaxation of up to 5% in qualifying marks is applicable for SC/ST/OBC/Differently Abled candidates.

- No upper age limit has been prescribed for appearing in CTET.
- There is no restriction on the number of attempts to appear in the CTET examination.
