Eligibility Criteria
- JRF (Nephrocare/WB-DSTBT): M.E./M.Tech or B.E./B.Tech with GATE/NET qualifying score, or equivalent qualification with first class aggregate in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering, Telecommunication Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Robotics Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
- Project Associate-I (ECE): Minimum B.Tech/B.E. in ECE, CSE, EE or E&I from a recognized university. Research or project experience in Wireless Communication Systems and Machine Learning is desirable.
- Postdoctoral Fellowship: Ph.D. degree from a recognized university with first class in all preceding levels and a good academic record. The Ph.D. must have been completed within the past 5 years on the last date of submission. Candidates must not have completed their Ph.D. from NIT Silchar.
- JRF (Civil Engineering): First-class M.E./M.Tech or B.E./B.Tech with GATE/NET qualifying score in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering, or M.Sc. in Atmospheric Physics, Climate Science or a relevant/allied discipline with at least 60% marks.
Age Limit
- JRF (WB-DSTBT): Maximum 28 years as on 16 October 2026.
- Project Associate-I (ECE): Maximum 35 years as on the closing date of the application.
- Postdoctoral Fellowship: Maximum 40 years as on the date of submission of the application.
- JRF (Civil Engineering): Maximum 32 years as on the last date of application.
Age Relaxation: Relaxation in age and qualification is applicable to eligible candidates as per the applicable Government of India rules.
Remuneration
- JRF (Nephrocare/WB-DSTBT): ₹25,000/- per month.
- Project Associate-I (ECE): ₹37,000/- per month.
- Postdoctoral Fellowship: ₹1,08,393/- per month.
- JRF (Civil Engineering): ₹37,000/- per month.

Is GATE or NET mandatory for the Project Associate-I post?

No. Candidates who have completed their Ph.D. from NIT Silchar are not eligible for the Visvesvaraya Postdoctoral Fellowship.
