India Post GDS Recruitment 2026: Department of Posts, Ministry of Communications has released the Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) Online Engagement Schedule-II (July 2026) notification for recruitment to Branch Postmaster (BPM), Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM) and Dak Sevak posts in Assam Circle. A total of 367 vacancies have been notified across 10 divisions. Candidates who have passed Class 10th can apply online. Selection will be made purely on the basis of 10th standard merit, with no written examination or interview.

Educational Qualification
  • 10th Pass: Candidates must have passed the Secondary School Examination (Class 10th) from a recognized Board.
  • Candidates must have passed Mathematics and English as subjects in Class 10th.
  • Local Language: The candidate must have studied the prescribed local language of the concerned Postal Circle at least up to Class 10th.
  • For Assam Circle, the prescribed language may include Assamese, Bengali or Bodo depending on the concerned area/division.
  • Candidates should have working knowledge of computers.
  • Candidates should have the ability to ride a bicycle / two-wheeler.
  • Candidates should have an adequate independent source of livelihood.

Selection Process
  • Merit List: Selection will be based purely on a system-generated merit list prepared from the candidate's Class 10th aggregate marks/percentage.
  • Marks will be calculated up to 4 decimal places for preparation of the merit list.
  • No Written Examination will be conducted.
  • No Interview will be conducted.
  • Shortlisted candidates will be called for physical document verification.
  • Shortlisted candidates are required to complete document verification before the Engaging Authority within 15 days of result declaration.

How to Apply Online
  1. Visit the official India Post GDS Online Engagement Portal.
  2. Complete the One-Time Registration (OTR) using your mobile number and email ID.
  3. Verify the mobile number and email ID through OTP.
  4. Log in using your registration number and other required credentials.
  5. Enter your Class 10th educational details and marks correctly.
  6. Select Assam Circle and choose the preferred Division and available Post IDs.
  7. Upload the required photograph and signature in the prescribed format and size.
  8. Pay the ₹100/- application fee, if applicable.
  9. Check all entered information carefully and submit the application form.
  10. Take a printout or save a copy of the submitted application for future reference.
