Eligibility Criteria and Age Limit
Statutory Eligibility:
- Candidates must be persons of eminence in public life with wide knowledge and experience in law, science and technology, social service, management, journalism, mass media, administration, or governance.
- The candidate must not be a Member of Parliament or a Member of the Legislature of any State or Union Territory.
- The candidate must not hold any other office of profit, be connected with any political party, carry on any business, or pursue any profession.
Other Essential Conditions:
- The candidate must be a citizen of India.
- The candidate must not be of unsound mind or insolvent.
- The candidate must not have been convicted of any crime.
- Educational qualifications, wherever applicable, must be obtained from a recognized University, Institute, Board, or College.
Age Limit:
- Candidates who have attained the age of 65 years shall not be eligible for appointment.
- No person shall hold office as State Chief Information Commissioner after attaining the age of 65 years.
Salary and Allowances:
The salary, allowances, and other service conditions shall be governed by the Right to Information Act, 2005, read with the applicable Right to Information Rules, 2019, and other relevant government provisions.
