Indian Air Force (IAF) has released the notification for AFCAT 02/2026 Recruitment for the selection of Group ‘A’ Gazetted Officers in Flying and Ground Duty (Technical & Non-Technical) branches. Interested and eligible Indian men and women candidates can apply online through the official AFCAT portal. Courses will commence from July 2027.

Salary
  • Rank: Flying Officer
  • Pay Scale: Rs. 56,100 – Rs. 1,77,500/- (Level 10)
  • Military Service Pay (MSP): Rs. 15,500/- per month
  • Training Stipend: Rs. 56,100/- per month during one year training
Qualification
  • Flying Branch: 10+2 with Physics & Maths (minimum 50% each) and Graduation with 60% marks or BE/B.Tech with 60% marks.
  • Ground Duty (Technical): 10+2 with Physics & Maths and a 4-year Engineering/Technology degree in specified disciplines.
  • Ground Duty (Non-Technical): Graduate degree for Administration/Logistics, B.Com/BBA/BMS for Accounts, and Post-Graduation for Education branch.
Age Limit
  • Flying Branch: 20 to 24 Years (Born between 02 July 2003 and 01 July 2007)
  • CPL Holders: Upper age limit relaxable up to 26 Years
  • Ground Duty: 20 to 26 Years (Born between 02 July 2001 and 01 July 2007)
  • Age calculated as on 01 July 2027.

  • NCC Special Entry: No Fee
  • GATE Score Entry: No Fee

AFCAT Recruitment - FAQs

Can married candidates apply for AFCAT 02/2026?

No. Candidates must be unmarried at the time of commencement of the course and cannot marry during training.

What is the difference between PC and SSC?

Permanent Commission (PC) allows service till retirement, while Short Service Commission (SSC) is limited tenure service.

Will travel allowance be provided for the AFSB interview?

Yes. AC-III Tier/AC Chair Car fare will be reimbursed for the first AFSB interview.

Are permanent tattoos allowed in IAF?

Permanent tattoos are generally not permitted except on the inner forearm or back of the hands. Tribal community exceptions apply.
