The Directorate of Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes, Assam has released an official notification inviting online applications for Pre-Matric and Post-Matric Scholarships 2026–27 from eligible SC, OBC, EBC and DNT students of Assam through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP).

Eligible students can apply for Fresh and Renewal scholarships under various SC and OBC schemes. The complete details regarding eligibility, income limit, scholarship amount, documents, important dates and the online application process are given below.

Available Scholarship Schemes
1. Pre-Matric SC – Component I Class IX–X; family income up to ₹2.50 lakh per annum
2. Pre-Matric SC – Component II Class I–X for children of parents/guardians engaged in unclean occupations; no income ceiling
3. Post-Matric SC Scholarship Class XI, XII, Degree, PG, Ph.D. and professional courses; income up to ₹2.50 lakh
4. Pre-Matric OBC – PM-YASASVI Class IX–X in Government Schools; income up to ₹2.50 lakh
5. Post-Matric OBC – PM-YASASVI Post-Matric Courses including Professional, Degree, Diploma and ITI; income up to ₹2.50 lakh
Eligibility Criteria
  • Domicile: Applicant must be an Indian citizen and a permanent resident of Assam.
  • Caste Certificate: Valid SC or OBC/MOBC caste certificate issued by the Office of the District Commissioner.
  • Income Limit: Annual family income should generally not exceed ₹2.50 lakh for eligible schemes.
  • Attendance: Minimum 75% attendance in the previous academic year is required.
  • Regular Study: Students must pursue full-time regular studies in a recognised institution.
  • Family Restriction: Maximum 2 boys from the same parents/guardian can receive the scholarship. This restriction does not apply to girl students.
  • Single Scholarship: Students cannot receive two government educational scholarships simultaneously.
Income Limit
  • SC Pre-Matric Component-I: Up to ₹2.50 lakh per annum.
  • SC Post-Matric: Up to ₹2.50 lakh per annum.
  • OBC Pre-Matric PM-YASASVI: Up to ₹2.50 lakh per annum.
  • OBC Post-Matric PM-YASASVI: Up to ₹2.50 lakh per annum.
  • SC Component-II: No income ceiling for eligible unclean occupation cases.
Scholarship Amount
  • Pre-Matric OBC: ₹4,000/- per annum.
  • Pre-Matric SC: ₹3,500/- to ₹8,000/- per annum as per applicable rate.
  • OBC Post-Matric Group 1: Up to ₹20,000/- per year.
  • OBC Post-Matric Group 2: Up to ₹13,000/- per year.
  • OBC Post-Matric Group 3: Up to ₹8,000/- per year.
  • OBC Post-Matric Group 4: Up to ₹5,000/- per year.
Post-Matric Scholarship Groups
Group 1 Professional Degree/PG Courses such as MBBS, B.Tech, M.Tech, MBA, LL.B, Ph.D., etc. – ₹20,000/year
Group 2 Professional Degree/Diploma such as B.Pharm, B.Sc Nursing, Hotel Management, Media, ITI after Class XII – ₹13,000/year
Group 3 General Graduate/PG Courses such as B.A., B.Sc., B.Com., M.A., M.Sc., M.Com. – ₹8,000/year
Group 4 Class XI–XII, Polytechnic Diploma and ITI after Class X – ₹5,000/year

How to Apply Online
  • Register: Complete One-Time Registration (OTR) through the official NSP OTR process.
  • Login: Visit scholarships.gov.in and log in using your OTR credentials.
  • Select Scheme: Choose the applicable Assam SC/OBC Pre-Matric or Post-Matric scholarship scheme.
  • Fill Details: Enter personal, academic and institution details carefully.
  • Upload Documents: Upload the required caste, income, bonafide, bank and other documents.
  • Submit: Submit the application before 30.09.2026 and provide the required documents to your institution for verification.
